Tax Clerk – Kensington Fire District

Job Description:

Provides technical and administrative assistance in the billing, collecting and crediting of taxes, water/sewer charges and assessments, as well as any related billings and charges. Works under the immediate supervision of the Tax Collector and the Assistant Tax Collector. Collects money. Post tax, water and sewer receipts. Records payments and/or delinquent payments. Creates and prints bills quarterly, along with late notices. Operates office appliances, such as calculators, computers, printers, etc. May answer questions and deals with the public. Performs other related duties as required.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge of standard bookkeeping practices. Good Business math skills. Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with superiors, co-workers and the general public. Must be a graduate of high school or technical secondary school of business program with bookkeeping courses and three years of experience in bookkeeping; or any combination of training and experience with provides a demonstrated ability to perform the duties of the position. Certification as a Municipal Tax Collector or the ability to become certified is desired. Must have flexibility for hours work. NO PHONE CALLS PLEASE.
